G2 + off-brand flash units

I'm hopefully soon-to-be new G2 system shooter, would like to inquire rearding the ability of G2 to handle off-brand flash units.
I have Sanpak 383 flash which I'd like to employ on G2 to serve as the main as well as fill-flash whenever necessary.

Will be gratefull to hear a related personal experiences...

I've used my G2 with a Metz 30BCT3 and a Metz 45-CT5, the last with a PC-Sync cord.

I'm not sure about the max. voltage, the 30BCT4 is said to ignite with some 240 volts and the 45-CT5 is rated at 14.8 volts by Metz. At least I didn't fry my cameras electronics with my copy of the 30BCT4 which I measured at slightly less than 20 volts.

Merely mentioning the G2 reinforces a strong case of GAS I'm suffering at the moment. I'm trying to stay clear of a second hand one that's yelling 'buy me, buy me'. I mustn't go check it out a third time or I'll end up with it..

I've used the sunpak with the G2. My sunpak comes in at.. less than 12v I think (my little brother has a voltmeter, and apparently, this flash will vary in voltage) so nothing appeared to be harmed. I'm not sure what the G2's hotshoe can take as far as potential is concerned.

i used a g2 quite extensively with a nikon sc-17 sync cord and a nikon sb-24 flash unit. worked like a charm, you just have to do a little figurin'.
contax g2, 45mm planar, sb-24 on a bracket.

My G2 and a trusty Vivitar 285HV on a Press-T bracket was used for a small wedding once...loved the results. I now have the Contax TLA-30, which is a nifty little flash. I guess the original question was answered above, so I guess I'm just chiming in about the G2's abilities. 🙂
