I recently had my G2 repaired by ToCAD America. The motor that focuses the lenses was bad, so I sent it to ToCAD, together with a partially disassembled 45 mm Planar (don't ask). They came back fixed in about 6 weeks, reasonable charge ($315 for both). The long parting from G2 made me miserable and I just couldn't help myself and bought another G2 for $500 in beautiful shape.I guess I'll sell my G1that i use as a back-up... I hate to think what's gonna happen when ToCAD runs out of parts. I prefer the job quality of ToCAD to KEH: arrogant lot, never heeded my repair requests, just did what they wanted. The only beef I have with ToCAD is that they never respond to emails trying to wrestle ETA of the repairs...

I've had great success with TOCAD as well with a repair to a G2 and one to a T2. Excellent source for Viewfinders as well- I dropped my G16 VF and their price was a fraction of what I could find on ebay.

Thanks for this post.. Does anyone know if people are having similar positive experiences with G1 repair?

The G series Contax was my re-entry into film after having "gone digital", I sold it to buy a Leica MP but would like to get back into the system. The complexity of the cameras and the inherent problems with repairs concerned me though.
