gaaah dropped my M4 - rangefinder busted!

I've also used Sherry and DAG. I really like Sherry, but expect to be w/o a camera for at least 4-6 weeks. DAG has a big reputation, but he's a "black hole."

sorry for the derail but:
does anyone know what the turnaround would be if I sent my M2 off to CRR for RF resilvering? I'd like to get that done (once I find $300, haha!) but I'd hate to be without my M2 for more than a month...

Anybody that has a vacuum chamber and the skill can resilver a prism, the transmission ratio is critical, its not 50%. I have found a couple of places in the U.K. that can offer this service, I had one aluminised and it was good enough to not be noticed by an expert dealer. This subject is periodically raised and Peter at CCR is the expert but Malcolm Taylor can also resilver and repair a split prism. Timescales may vary.

Best,

normclarke.

You'd need to talk to Peter, but he had my LTM bodies for a week to ten days.

ah, thank you both.

the problem with sending it elsewhere is that alot of things are wrong with my RF unit- cracked framelines mask, mysterious mark in the RF prism, vertical alignment won't hold... pretty much what you should expect from dropping a 50 year old camera several times...

Quick update. Sent the M4 back to DAG, he had it repaired almost immediately and it's on the way back to me. Yay! Love my M6, but the M4 is my favorite.

Thank you for posting an update. I'm glad he was able to return it to you so quickly, and that you've got your baby back in one functional piece.

I'll give a thumbs up for Steve Choi. Have had two M bodies CLA'd and an Elmarit 28 f2.8 cleaned and adjusted. excellent work with a reasonable price and turn around.

Many years ago Sherry was able to source original elements for 35 pre asph Summilux that had fungus damage.

When I lived back east I'd usually call Sherry for work but now that I'm in Cal Steve is my first choice.
