IMAGES
my images are always about 850x? at 72dpi.
i just checked and the largest size of the 3 pics i looked at was 146kb.
b&w shots all.
i don't think they look bad at all.
as far as i recall, jorge has reset the limit to 300kb and i remember stephen saying that it would stay there.

the snow must go on
that would be very nice, joe. I also thought that is what happened after the first long thread discussing this issue.
But it does not work. One kbyte above 150 and it does not work.
Colour images saved as 8 bit rgb are theoretically 3 x larger than the same image in grayscale. (3x8 bits for the three colour channels).
I just noticed thet in PS CS3 beta the save for web function has an ICC profile attaching option, so maybe i will use that from now on, on the iages i want to upload here.

The only time that I had a sizing problem was when I saved as JPEG using Level 10. When I reduced the definition level to Medium (7) I had no problem.

Last night I had several images between 183kb and 235kb that did not upload. I had to butcher the 183kb image to get it down to 148kb and was not happy with the result. The image is now 400x429!!!back alley said:as far as i recall, jorge has reset the limit to 300kb and i remember stephen saying that it would stay there.

Update: That’s the ticket! In fact, I can save at definition level 10 and still get under the 150K limit. I was leaving the definition at the default setting, 12.OldNick said:The only time that I had a sizing problem was when I saved as JPEG using Level 10. The gallery at RFF is an image-oriented subsite and we should be able to upload top quality images at a decent size to show our work.
I'd say cap each user at a certain total storage space, and at the same time introduce one image upload per day limit to encourage editing by user.
