Gallery Picks 7 Days Prior to 10/9/06

Thanks for the picks, the clicks and a great week of images! This week is looking good too!

Thanks to all to have selected some of my pics, it supports me well in my efforts to produce interesting material. It has been a controversy about some of them, but as RayPa mentionned, I try to build a serie and the GR-D street gallery must be seen as an ensemble.

I've learnt EVERY thing about photo from you guys and as Mauro said with his words, I still have some progress to accomplish.

And we, as non english natives, forgive us not to be able as to be as precise and subtle as you.

With a deep respect to you all,

Philippe.

Philippe.

... like all of us ...

I think you should be more grateful to one honest person that says "this picture seems to me insignificant" than 1000 person saying (often only for friendship) "bravo, bravo, super bravo" ...

Friendly Mauro

Ok sorry, but now I can't shut my trap: "this picture seems to me insignificant" is not a constructive opinion, it's just an offensive statement. It's like "when will come the good photos?" etc. You know a bunch of offensive phrases.
If a photo is insignificant to you, then just go your way ...
A constructive comment is like the following: "Very nice use of converging lines. I think the image would be even stronger if you cropped it just above the lampost. I find the bright area of brick above the lampost a bit distracting. Cropping the image would get rid of that distraction. It would also move the woman away from the centre of the frame and make the image more dynamic. The detail in the image is great though" (comment of one of my pic left by Rafael).
Rafael didn't repost my picture cropped, even if it could have been better. He just suggested a better framing. You wanna talk about photography, you wanna make this community a better one: start to be polite and that'd be fine when you criticize pictures.

I'm done!

Buona sera,

Marc

Hi Mauro,
I'm here just since april so i'm not an old member but I bet (i may be wrong) nobody tells anybody else here on RFF "bravo" just for friendship, I also bet that everybody just don't leave a comment if do not like the photo; otherwise it would mean that, here on Rff, there are liars.
Anyway, then does not mean that you're not allowed to post your constructive critiques to other members' work (mine included!)
Cheers from Lucca.
Nico

Now a positive post:
I wanted to thank RayPa, Nico, Todd, Bill, Bud, Rich, Jan (where's Jan btw?)... etc for the work they do. You guys post a lot of comments, you keep RFF alive, you make it a good place to be on internet.
Thank you guys, Grazie Nico, Merci à tous !!!

You learn damn fast! I meant 'I learnt everything from you guys from RFF' (then for about a year now) and I am simply honest stating this. And as Marc-A said, a constructive criticism supports me way much better than just a negative one.

With all respect to you as a member, you're not yet granted as a moderator here, then I will post picture or a serie of picture that I find either interesting or request for advice (please read also the text with the photos, it usualy depicts the member intentions), unless being moderated of course.

Sure, I have espressed ONLY my democratic opinion for what concern your picture, certainly I dont pretend of moderate anything...

Thx Mauro

Mauro: I have just noted your comment on a photo that I loaded up today to my gallery. It is a B&W photo taken with TMAX3200 film and then toned via PS.I stated that I used a Steinheil lens to take the photo. Your comment is rather strange. Do you suggest that this is a color photo taken with a Summar lens?

Marc, thanks for the kind words. BTW, Jan is still pretty active. I've been following his work on Flickr!: JannX He's been doing some nice work photographing industrial sites.

:)

Ray,
I did not understand if Jan is active only on Flickr (btw which is his nick there 'cos I'd like to follow his work) or is still active on rff too,

I have seen on the forum a thread concerning the lens Summar: your picture has reminded me that thread where were posted some color pictures made to some children...

Surely I have reminded bad...

Nico, his nick is Jannx. Click this link: JannX to go to his gallery. If you are interested click HERE to go to Filickr's Rangerfinderforum group. Many photographers who post images here also post to this group Flickr group. :)

EDIT: oops, sorry. I don't think Jan is exclusive only to Flickr nowadays. He commented in the Gallery just yesterday, IIRC. :)
