Gallery picks for week ending June 9th, 2008

'Gallery Picks' is an opportunity for you to post a heads up to what you have seen during the past seven days at RFF that you like.

There's no membership requirement, no criteria (except past seven days), no voting, no limit to the number of photos mentioned, and everybody mentioned is a winner.

Anybody can start the thread on a Monday morning.

Anybody can join in, it's a community event.

Shall we begin?

These are the photos that stuck out to me this week:

Keith: The Artist and His Work: love the way the lines all lead to to the center of the frame where the sparks are.

morphomir: *** : what I would call an "urban carnival" shot
08June08006.jpg

taxi38: Punks : great range of expressions ... lovely
punks.jpg

dazedgoneby: 50 cent pool : captures the gritty atmosphere and the shadowed head but highlighted tattooed arm and pool stick is very nice.
pool5_sm.jpg

rogers: Manga : wonderful light and excellently rendered mood
Scan-080604-0022.jpg

Petronius: Sacks : another quotidian detail, perfectly framed
Plastiks_cke.jpg

lzr: One Legged : camera and scene combine to make a wholly original photograph
smilansky_shoe.jpg

sinetsin: Lines and squares : an architectural abstract -- great perspective and framing
25220029.jpg

Pitxu: Town & Country : great scene and just the perfect title!
pp1429.jpg

nksyoon: Old Jameson Distillery Reflected -- much enjoy the dual reflections, both warped but differently. Nicely seen.

edho: Traveller - captures the feeling of travel, and has exceptional framing in the wide open space, but with her path mirroring the implied diagonal of the dark bars on the floor

Fabian: 33-09 -- great juxtaposition
33-09.jpg

mwooten: capital -- the glorious colors.
capital.jpg

Walter Leoporati: globe reflections : the different perspectives in the three different reflections grab me.
globe-reflection-2jpg.jpg

OurManInTangier: a mother's arms - either amazing timing/chance or extreme patience to see this potential photo and then wait for a passerby. either way it's exceptional.
Last_Day_Today.jpg

-- can only post 15 images per post -- so additional shots to follow.

gerado: tiger city boxing stable -- really wonderful action shot and putting the boxers in the corner works.
59210004.jpg

Pitxu: The Story Teller -- he embodies his profession and somehow Richard manages to capture the man and his passion in this frame.

Thanks, MickH! (It feels a bit like cheating to take pictures in such a wonderful building with it's amazing lines and light: Frank Lloyd Wright is a far, far better architect than I am a photographer!)

Thanks for the mention 'papercut.'

I'll get onto my faves in a day or so! :)

Franko. "Upstairs Bedroom-71".

UpstairsBedroom-71.JPG

I love the charm and simplicity of this one.

I'm not sure how this happens, maybe I'm not paying as much attention as I should :) but I often miss photographs that others pick up on - probably a good reason to keep this sequence of threads going. This one certainly slipped under the radar and its a stonker.
