There were a lot of pictures I really liked this week. I have two favourites, from photony texas and slantface (Jordan):

Pediophobia by photony texas. Visually rich and powerful, and just a touch disturbing. The text accompanying the image adds context and deserves inclusion:

Pediophobia, also known as the fear of dolls is a relatively common kind of phobia. It is an anxiety disorder that can be associated with a range of dolls from old-fashioned china dolls and porcelain dolls to dolls that talk and move. Pediophobia is considered a branch of automatonophobia, or a fear of humanoid figures. There are many kinds of symptoms associated with a person suffering from pediophobia.

A person who has this would usually hide any dolls they encounter or refuse to go near them. If they would get near a doll they would also be likely to feel embarrassment to their reaction, trembling, an elevated heart rate, inability to speak or think clearly, panic, dread, trembling, breathlessness, crying, and nausea. In worse cases an individual would have a feeling of insanity, a loss of control or anger, heart palpitations, a sensation of detachment from reality, or a full-blown anxiety attack.

The Castle #3 by Ezzie. 30 second exposure on a DIY 6x17 camera - beautiful work. Eirik has a large version of this image on his Flickr site. It's worth the visit.

untitled by StefanJozef. I like the strong graphic composition and tones.

Allen Street by Mlehrman. I always enjoy Michael's street shots. This one is terrific.

Expédition Particulière by hteasley. I'd never have guessed this was a grab shot out a car window. Nice framing with the 50mm.

Sharecropper House, Ormondsville NC by jwc57. This is part of a series John has been working on to document old homesteads in Eastern NC before they disappear. It's a race against time as John tells me Fire departments regularly approach owners of abandoned homes and barns to use for training burns. Arsonists and hurricanes also take their toll. I think it's a good documentary photograph, sensitively composed.

Ana by bonatto. I always like portraits which show a strong emotional connection.

hotel by Astro8. Emotional tension, strong division of picture space along x-y-z axes, and nice use of light and shadow.

untitled by Tuna. This young man's attentive look and body language towards his companion says more than any words.

Vines on Fence by barnwulf. Jim's image reminds me of Cy Twombly and Bruce Marden's abstracts - mesmerising.

Buried by Agianelo. A simple subject turned into a sculpture. Lovely subtle tonal transitions.

cathedralarches2 by siracusa. I liked how the light leads you into the spaces beyond.

Untitled by Martini. Great conceptual composition, beautifully executed, graphically strong.

I have picks for this week. The bar for this thread seems to be raised each week. I've learned a lot from this thread viewing the work of others.

Here we go:

valdas, this makes me think of the Cowboy Legend and song "Ghost Riders in the sky" except by bike.

Jelico, majestic for its composition and light.

slava said: "Just notice a light on my shoes when I was out and had to look through the window." So when it is said of a photo "it's all about light, it must also mean paying attention to things like your shoes. Super shot well spotted.

photony texas, master creativity using a double exposure and making me wonder how to do it with the MM.

lynnb, so natural and joyous a portrait in everyday.

Mlehrman, all those different looking people, looking different ways and except for the mother and child, not one of them looking at another.

jukka, each half of the frame holds multiple stories and mystery. Great shot!

Kiev Ilegalac, excellent composition with beautiful light and shadow throughout.

SimonSawSunlight, master of the moment.

And 2 in recognition of the season:

Walter Leporati, This shot would be a big disappointment for all the little kiddies who think there is only one Santa, Great composition and timing, it would make a fine seasonal print.

Gregoyle, my top favorite of this week. This guys expression speaks reams of thoughts.

Paul, thanks. It's an odd scene to be sure. It was not visible to the public until the Hurricane knocked down a fence where you see the police tape. I'd passed this spot hundreds of times and then ... here it was in plain view.
