Gallery picks for the week ending February 13, 2017

A bow in his hands and a cupid-bow mouth.. it's getting late and it's cold and he's not too sure about this picture-taking business. I like it because it's a very good picture of childhood.

Lukitas's up-close portraits really draw you in to the characters - in this case, members of a band (the last one may be a co-worker)
L to R: singer/multi-instrumentalist, guitarist, drummer

Kosta's picture is like crossing the boundary between photography and drawing, with a bit of each - the view of the lens, overlaid with the more emotional artefacts of the hand

I always look forward to seeing Alex's portraits in the gallery. His use of light and colour is often masterful. This portrait reminded me of a Vermeer.

Excellent neighbourhood street picture. The composition balances very well too, with the girl and the bear. Then I noticed the other bear. Perhaps the bears are always watching us, without our realising it.

A gripping drama of life and death on the land... Doug's seemingly gentle rural idyll is a story of ambush on closer inspection!

Keith's unwelcome house guest. I like how Keith can always make time to grab an expertly framed, artistic photo of the scary creatures that share his digs before he beats a hasty exit

Thank you Ko.Fe., Icebear and lynn. And yes, the fourth one is our base guitarist.

Me, I'm the trumpet, and the photographer.
