What a great week in the gallery, and barely 1 page of images on this thread!
Because, the increasing ratio of "thanks" to posted images, I've stopped thanking the kid folks who in the past have selected one of my images as a favorite. However, my warmest thanks go not just to them but to the many who contribute regularly with their images and with their selections.
Every few months a thread pops up lamenting that there's too much talk about gear, and not enough discussion of photography. It's followed by a rousing chorus of aye, aye but in practice the POW thread languishes. It's really a pity, because this community includes many talented photographers, many just amateurs, who contribute some stimulating, memorable, and inspiring content.
Fortunately the viewership of this thread still ranks in the hundreds, so the "curators" serves as a nice spotlight of what's best on RFF. I encourage some of the lurkers to begin offering their picks... while each week 3-4 pictures seem to be everybody's favorite, but there are always many that other people chose as favorites and that I had failed to notice. And when people pick images I do not like, it's still interesting to consider what the poster might have seen in the image to prompt its selection.
...Apologies if the thanks turned a little sour! I enjoy RFF and would like to see more of what's exceptional in it (like the POW thread) and less of the vitrol that sometimes emerges.
