Gallery Picks for the week ending June 3rd 2013

I thought Stuart John captured 'the look' so well in this bw portrait of Emma. Mona Lisa with a touch of teenage irony?

Mike's abstract is reminiscent of Picasso, with its deconstructed figures and arrangement of shapes and colours within the frame:

Loved the expression in this candid snapshot of Milla, by hteasley. The tones are subtle and attractive:

Great to see such high standards of portraiture in the gallery. Loved this sharp, sassy portrait by Alex:

Enjoyed Richard's foray into colour. Perhaps he's moonlighting with the Society of Illustrators.

Great to see new members posting such excellent work in the gallery - this is Mgermana's first picture post. I look forward to seeing more:

Sam's eye for colour is equally as good as his vision in b&w. Emotional and evocative. Like a memory.

Beautiful colour and light in this church interior by Alex:

Another shot in Filmfan's colour series. Reminds me of Meyerowitz. Of course it's art.

Thanks Lynn ... much appreciated. :)

Hiyawaan ... Colour, colour, colour! And composition of course! :)

Roland managed to get warm and natural responses from all his subjects in his Carneval series. I liked this one the most:

Biomed ... a very different type of colour here with the beautifully subtle pastel shades. Lines, composition and light ... this has everything IMO. :)

Filmfan ... I think I like this better than the previous posting. A surreal scene that floats in a sea of OOF, brought back to reality by the sharp foreground elements.
