I had not much time to go through the gallery last week, so I have some picks only from the beginning of the week.

B&W:
After the Blizzard from Arjay, great winter tones

Peeking over from filmfan: a special geometry with a surprise

Rollei_35_101_12, by petronius: I have seen many good pictures of roads, but never like this one. An excellent idea very well made.

Crossing 5th.Ave. by Walter Leporati: there is a kind of geometry here, and what a glanze...

The Road to nowhere, Ezzie: another road, very classic. The winter tones and the details of the trees are very good.

And one colors pick:
Joe Patti's from Raid, with these wonderful calm colors transmitting a sense of peace

slantface. nicely composed. I like the OOF areas drawn by the HP5 Summilux combo.

even when Martini is shooting without long exposures and other fancy tricks, he always manages to come up with some captivating compositions, as here with his Geoglyph. very cool.

great shot by gho. I especially love the face lurking in the shadows.

Olivier S. had some wonderful images from Venezia in the gallery this week, this among them.

lovely tone in Carlos M's image.

an almost otherworldly image at the mouth of a volcano in Costa Rica from kxl.

some great work from Chuck Cates. A beautiful golden glow and lovely watery reflection in these two shots. An interesting contrast between the placidity of the two houses and the power line looming at the edge of the frame. nice rendering of the ominous sky, too.

tic capturing the intricacy of a wall at Allhambra. some great light here.

Frank Petronio catching the two faces of Shannon. Great image. Shannon's expression in the mirror looks a little different from her expression in the main part of the image because of the reflection, giving us a kind of two-faces-of rendering. I like the way the curve of her partly-exposed breast so nicely mirrors (pun not intended) the curve of her Mickey ears. That shadow at the top right corner of the frame adds a nice intrigue, too. That dense black mascara is a perfect match for the high contrast.

Luigi (luiman). I like the prudishness of the ladies in hats the way he has it set off against the nymphs and the devil in the sculpture. great contrast (both in terms of light and theme).

richardreidjr ... on a long, lonesome road somewhere in Oklahoma

maenju continues to offer some great reportage from Mindoro in the Philippines.

Billy Springer's shot reminds me of a Weegee image from Coney Island in the 1940's.

Walter Leporati stretching the stretch limo to the max using the Fifth Avenue crosswalk as a visual foil.

tigerphil had some wonderful images of vintage marine artifacts. This diving suit is hung as if it were a big sport fishing catch and, perhaps, after all, it is one. great grays and blacks.
