Thanks JamesH for selecting my two tOy cAmerA shOts for the Monday gallery.
Sometimes we/me get to caught up in the Gear Thing when taking phOtOs is what it's all about in the end...
Thank you EliasK for picking one of my photographs for the Gallery Pic list. There are a lot of excellent photographs and it's an honor to be included. - Jim
Well I guess many of us think alike. My three picks have already been mentioned. Jelico by Speed is a very off beat eccentric shot -- excellent. Was it set up? If not, you've got a very quick eye.
The sense you get of the young man in Todd Hanz's "Window light", instantly reminded me of a shot by Mark Goodman (Donald York, 1974) from the Museum of Modern Art, can be seen in a book entitled American Children. This is the best portrait I've seen in quite a while.
So my first attempt at posting a picture to Gallery Picks was flup. I wanted to repost Todd's picture. I hit the "sunset" insert button, then typed in the URL which I took to be "post 1369463" and all I got was --- no picture.
I also wanted to say about "untitled" by onhur77 (already posted twice, no need to), this shot reminds us that a good photograph doesn't have to be sharp and show good detail (Sorry Ansel), but it does need imagination and a good eye.
Hi Paul,
Lina was playing with dolls on the carpet and close to a window above her. I grabbed my camera and took some photos at available light. Yes, Lina is quite some person. She is a tough cookie and very comfortable with addressing people directly and without discomfort. You have met me and my children, so you will be able to describe Lina.
Hi Raid, you can see that in Lina's direct gaze, and also see the thinking and judgement going on. It really caught my attention (and my wife's) - we have a daughter who is similar when it comes to dealing with adults.
That, and the unusual but effective lighting. Nice one.
