Although this week was very good, this one quite easily stands out for me.

The best camera is one that still works!
Thanks to Israel and Petronius for the very kind mentions.
How has everyone felt about the 'Picks' this week? Personally, I've enjoyed the comments that some have made about their picks, it's been interesting to see not just what's interested people but also why. Once again this thread has made me realise how many good photographs I've missed in the gallery this week. Thumbnails just aren't enough to give you an idea of whether the picture is truly interesting or not... if only we had the time to click each pic eh?
First thanks to anyone who mentioned my photos ... very much appreciated as ever.
I think the thread has paced itself a little better this week which may be coincidental ... it's hard to say. Recently the thread has kicked off on a monday and pretty well been all over by tuesday night with a huge rush of posts and images and then very little for the rest of the week aside from the thankyous.
As for adding text describing reasons for your choice, that's entirely up to the individual IMO and I certainly don't see it as a necessary addition to what is already the best thread at RFF ... and it always has been for me!
I decided to cut back my own selections to six images this week but that's certainly not set in stone ... and I did enjoy adding a few brief words to each image and I also enjoyed reading the feelings of others about their choices.
Long live 'Gallery Picks!'

If we're allowed to say 'thank you' under the new regime, thanks to all. If not, I too like everyone's annotations to their picks. I think it is nice to hear others' reasons for liking something.

For my part, I do find it useful to try to express, why I particularly like certain pictures that I picked for this thread (although frankly, I do not go through each single picture of the week).
And I am grateful to anybody who takes the time to help me advance with criticism as to my pictures (in this thread or elsewhere). And I feel a strong need to say thank you when a picture of mine was included. Thank you!

I don't imagine anyone feels that everyone must leave a comment or explanation - it's shaky ground in some ways as its certainly no critique and not necessarily much more than a rough outline of the elements that appeal...at least in the case of the comments I've put with each image.
Perhaps the Picks of the Week thread could and should be left as a far more open forum, put up the pictures you like and as many/few as you see fit, comment or don't and leave it at that - no limits etc
EDIT: +1 for Andy's comment above
I agree that sometimes words are hard to find when trying to speak about a good photograph, but I do find it a good learning experience to try to find reasons about why a photograph works.

Thanks for the mentions and especially to Carlos M for making me aware of this thread and subforum in the first place. It's a great motivation both for my photography as well as to participate more actively in these threads in the future, seeing all the great work on display here...

Carlos M did something this week that is worth mentioning as a suggestion for all those interested in seeing this thread thrive and grow. He left a brief comment with the photo from the gallery post for each one of his selections that it was one of his picks for "Gallery Picks for the week".
This is a nice heads up for someone perhaps unaware of this thread and the wealth of images that make it here. I know I will be doing likewise, it's not something difficult to do or takes to much extra time, but well worth the effort.

Sorry for not participating this week. I´m convalescent and have been home infrequently lately. Many thanks to Carlos, Paul and Luigi for mentioning my pictures.

When I post selections here, I comment on each selection. It becomes more meaningful.

I´ve sometimes added a short note as to what I like about the pictures I select, I´ll up the ante and do it for everyone from now on. I rather like the idea.
