apparently it's monochrom week. i'm so glad a couple of people got new toys. 
here are a few photos i liked this week

i liked a whole bunch of the halloween photos, but then i like costume parties as photo subjects. i liked this one best because of how the silver suit jumped and for how much detail remained in the background. amazing camera, and well used.

lovely, unobscured connection with the subject. she's not doing anything terribly interesting, but the photo is very interesting. she's very present.

all of the photos of this guy are pretty awesome. every time i see someone like this, i remind myself that i should quit my bellyaching right away. i picked this photo because it's close, because i love the water background and because you can see his face linking to his arm. great moment. no irony. just strength.

ridiculously luminous moment. great shadow that lines up with the man's collar. i'm sure this was well seen and perhaps thought out a little bit, but getting something at the right instant involves some serendipity and the use of some unconscious skillset.

nicely constructed. wall on one side. bed on the other. textured floor. lots of right angles and then a few organic shapes to balance. beautiful soft light. fantastically intimate. plus, the two of them are very sympathetic subjects.

her eyes made me open the thumbnail and then i started looking around the frame some more. her posture, the mysterious figures in the foreground, the lovely texture on the building, the addams family fence, the old style buzzer box in the background. really engaging, and lots of possible stories at work. i imagine that this was a relatively ordinary street on a relatively ordinary day, but it got picked at a moment and at an angle that created a lot of possibilities.
