Gallery Picks is an opportunity for you to post a heads up to what you have seen during the past seven days at RFF that you like.
There's no membership requirement, no criteria (except past seven days), no voting, no limit to the number of photos mentioned,
and everybody mentioned is a winner.

Anybody can start the thread on a Monday.

Better than a classic photo, because we knw who and where it came from.

Super wonderful photo, people, clouds, birds- it has everything!

I’m late this week, and I have a wretched fever, but I hope more gallery posters will contribute critical selections. Come on, friends, don’t leave the heavy lifting to James and Tony and a few others. Make this critique-by-selection a good habit, something you spend 15 minutes a week on.

Thanks to James for a selection, and to Tony for three. And thanks, you two, for taking care of this thread each week.

Being new here I made some comments in the Gallery section of the forum itself with respect to a few photos that stood out to me. I take it in this thread we can cross-post those particular photos that we enjoy for extra exposure (no pun intended)?

Absolutely yes, and please do. Encouragement is priceless! and photographers can (re)consider their tastes and prejudices, refine their skills and construct personal benchmarks through considering what their colleagues have published and critically singled out. This has been the case for me in 7 years in the RFF Gallery. I can’t overstate how much the superior creative and critical examples of others have imparted, through sheer visual intelligence and cultural variety, knowledge that helped me refine my experiments, techniques and skills. Surely I’m not alone in this realization.

Participation in the Gallery and Gallery Picks can be subject to burnout, priority shifts, difficult life events. People fade away. This is ameliorated by new people, new visions, new voices. So welcome, and have at it.

May I add, that the Random Gallery is also subject to the rust of under-use. A few minute's searching will reward the curious with long-lost jewels and hidden talent.
