First of all: thanks Jon for keeping this thread alive! I hope you continue in 2008
🙂
Then, congratulations to all the members who posted pictures in the gallery and invited us to pay attention to unsuspected beauty and poetry in daily life, or showed exotism and amazing landscapes.
Now, my selection of the week:
Pitxu for
Izen gabe 5
A wonderful picture of Basque breeders, composed like a painting. I really like this one.

Izen gabe 4
At first look this picture is just a good picture, well composed, but a bit cliché IMVHO. But on close look, it’s a great one, very meaningful. If I see it correctly, the shadow on the wall is not the one of the main subject (though the shadow could be seen as the main subject). The shadow is the one of a young man, a strong young man as Basque men usually are. The contrast between the main character and the shadow is then symbolic; it could mean youth is nothing but a ghost to this old man. He looks at the young man, smiles and remembers the old days.
And technically, it’s perfect (composition, exposure, tonality, sharpness).

I like this portrait, I like the grain. I don’t get the title but this adds mystery to the picture.

Nurse
One of the most striking picture this week. A beautiful natural light portrait of a natural beautiful woman.
Budgreen for

Another poem by Budgreen written with light.
Mauro Scacco for

Fine composition with a power diagonal and an interesting subject, riding a bike in the countryside, wearing a smart coat and a steson.
