I looks like the gallery is in a little bit of a slump since summer. Postings to the gallery have dropped from well over 20 pages a week to only 6 last week. And participation in the weekly gallery picks is abysmal. Is everybody in some kind of post summer depression ... not inspired to take any pictures or just posting somewhere else?
 
I only know my particular feeling about this. I have the sense that most mentions are of black and white images, either film-based or looking like it and maybe a wee bit of the same people being mentioned every week as in a mutual admiration society. Looking at the pictures above this post, I see that the ratio of B+W to color is 12:1.

But, I have jumped in at times and named my favorites (once I figured out how to do it) and have been fortunate to be mentioned often enough so I will continue to do so. This is still a good site for seeing some outstanding images. It just seems to me that it could be opened up a little to be more inclusive.

I agree about the strong preference for b+w shots in the favorite picks. I am in the lucky position to have a MM and yes the number my photos have been mentioned has increased significantly. I also carry an M9 when color in a scene calls for it but more often than not I don't take the color shot because I feel I only take the shot because of the color and there is nothing interesting about it if the color wasn't there. Usually I feel my b+w shots are much better.
I sometimes also pick color shots here when they don't fall into my "I wouldn't have pressed the shutter" bracket.;)
 
Thanks, Klaus. You're one of the stalwarts in the gallery and I like what you and others do with B+W. I would certainly have Leicas again if it were financially possible.
