An Undesirable
This is the first time in months, possibly a year, that I've looked in on the Gallery Picks thread. So firstly let me thank those that included my shot of the two clifftop benches, I'm astonished a quick lens test shot was chosen but astonished more so by the quality of the picks in general.
Some great pictures included that show the breadth and scope of the photography posted to the gallery. I'm also glad that I picked this week to look in on the thread as I've been able to read Richard's remarks that have rather hit home with me and given me a fresh impetus to join in the thread and benefit from the positive observations that you can make when looking at the choices of other photographers, especially as it seems so many of you now give some reasoning or rationale behind the choices you make.
I'd stopped looking at this thread as I'd found myself losing my focus and 'copying' the look, subject matter and style of photographs posted rather than focusing on the information that can be gleaned from this thread and the positive value that it may hold.
Hardly a 'Road to Damascus' moment but possibly a very beneficial realisation. Apologies for the droning on but I thought it worth backing up the wisdom of Richard's view and outlook.
Congratulations to all those mentioned.
PS - Now I'll have to remember the password to my Photobucket account so I can post next week

Well said, Richard and Simon, both.
This thread is actually a good inspiration for me, not only to reimagine what's possible, but to keep shooting, to keep at it, every day. There's always an opportunity to see something that I haven't yet seen, even in the things I encounter every day, and this thread is a good reminder for me to not slack off.

Thank you barnwulf and Paul for choosing my Charolais butts....
Louvre by Mudman
That elderly couple and their shadow really grabbed me, set against these two Paris landmarks.
Dark alley by zauhar for the creepy atmosphere
angles by hteasley for the lovely gray tones
Two and two by oldskewl808 for a nicely layered cloud picture.
And of course parking ramp steps by barnwulf, my fav of the week. Great light and lines.

marc, the charolais breed is much favored here in the south as purebred stock or for crosses. many farmers in southern middle tennessee where i grew up had charolais ...
