Just do it.
Personally I far prefer a verbal comment or critique made in a positive and constructive way. I have learned a great deal from the thoughts of others about my photographs, they see something that I missed and that's great. I don't think numerical ratings can have any meaning whatsoever when used to assess any art form. What are your marking criteria? Will we all be using the same ones? Are we all equally experienced and knowledgeable in photography? If the answer to any of these questions and a myriad others is "no" or "don't know" then it is completely pointless and shoudn't be used. Historically we have this in Camera club comps, International Photography Salons and on other sites and its just plain silly. However without this kind of marking the club comps, Salons etc would disappear so we accept it for these events.
It is not unusual for some of the more experienced members of camera clubs not to enter work into competition because they realise the marking system is flawed and just plain silly. Instead, they prefer to put up a picture, view it, talk about the why, the where and the how of it, discuss its merits and problems and simply enjoy it.
Some members may not want their work critiqued and that ought to be their prerogative, therefore there should be a choice when posting or a different gallery for them.
