Most decent 16mm film cameras are still quite valuable -- even certain high-end 8mm and Super 8 cameras hold value
 
My father loves to buy old bird cages in Garage sales. He had bought 4 at one point and didn't let us thrown them away.
 
damn, I wish they had garage sales here, might be able to find a beat up old shanghai leica copy for 20 yuan :)
 
Today: a box of darkroom stuff for $1. funnels, 2 stainlesssteel film developing tanks and 35 and 120 reels, film clips, polycontrast filters, contact printer, multi frame size easel, box of Ilford paper, Kodak book.

I'm looking for a daylight 4x5 sheet film developing tank complete. Found one last month but it was broken beyond use so I left it where it sat.
 
I've been looking for stainless steel developing stuff for ages because my plastic stuff is crappy. I haven't bought new reels since I got the tanks and it's starting to show. They were cheap tanks anyway, but I didn't think they were THIS cheap.

So yeah, Frank...do you need those tanks? :D

Course, now I'll have to learn how to load stainless reels. Should be much less annoying than my plastic ones, though. They won't even load a full 36-38 exposures anymore without a fight.
 
Ya know? FrankS, you've inspired me. I live in a 'burb of Phila., PA that's spittin' distance from the ritzy-titzy "main line" Bryn Mawr, Villanova, etc., etc., etc... I need to take a bike ride around those parts one sunny Sunday afternoon. "Yeah, sonny. This was my late husband's Leeeka. He coveted that camera, God rest his soul. I'll let you take it off my hands for $1.25. I got got a couple lenses in that box over there. I'll charge you $0.50 apiece."

Today there was yard sale up my block. Glasses, lots of glasses. Eye glass cases, old board games, and a banged up 10 speed bike. No cameras.

I just sprung for a Hewes reel. Haven't shot 120 since I did, waiting (and waiting and waiting) for my Iskra to get back from Certo6. My plastic stuff is fine with 35. 120 - it either sucks it right up on the first shot, or I'm in for an ordeal.
 
No camera equipment worth getting today, but I did grab a mostly working (easy for me to repair/restore) Dual scale Hythergraph (humidity/temperature) recorder. Nice brass drum, working clockwork drive.

Of course, I don't need it.

But it's cool.

I NEVER find cameras around here. I occasionally get lucky at the local Good Will or Salvation Army stores, but never at garage sales.
 
Stephanie- Steel reels are like a bike- hard at first, but then simple as can be. A half hour spent with an expired roll and you'll feel like you've been doing it for years. The keys are not to clip the film to the center and to cup the film just enough to fit between the spirals. Oh, and have the lights out.
 
Garage sale days are great. But I never find camera stuff there. Maybe I go to the wrong places? But still these markets are great to take pictures. It is may favorite location for BW street shots at the moment. They sell everything from glue and socks, to fake DVDs and stolen bikes. Crazy place with a lot of people and some good pictures to take. Sometimes they offer a broken Olympus XA2 for $50.:).Right.

There's been a number of enlargers posted on craigslist lately but the owners are somewhat proud of them. Too pricey for me.. Someone even posted a Mamiya C33 with 80 for $995..

I have a FR Cut-Film-Rack Developing Tank that I bought a few years ago and have never used...it's used and old but complete and it's yours for the shipping cost...I was lucky enough to get a Nikor 4x5 Tank on Ebay for about $80...so the FR never was used by me...
