Garage sale buy this morning

Colyn,

I have a FR Cut-Film-Rack Developing Tank that I bought a few years ago and have never used...it's used and old but complete and it's yours for the shipping cost...I was lucky enough to get a Nikor 4x5 Tank on Ebay for about $80...so the FR never was used by me...

Sounds good to me. Let me know shipping to Fort Worth, Texas 76116

I can recall two missed opportunities due to lack of funds. One, a magnesium flashpowder tray flashgun thing. The other, a Yashica Electro.

Now I have funds available... why can I never find such items in shops anymore?? :(

No garage sales this side of the pond. We've got Marktplaats for that. Great place for great finds. Just got myself an original Canon 40mm ND filter. Never knew they existed!

I've been to a couple yard sales so far this summer, and the only sign of a camera was a beat up Nikon P+S. Such are the perils of living in a small town.

======================

I live in a medium-size town and haven't had much luck either at yard sales in finding camera stuff but two years ago, at a local garage sale, I told the owner that I liked his house and he said it was for sale -- so I bought it and we've been very happy with it...

Hoi laptoprob !
You are forgetting Queens Day of course :) I found a perfectly clean LPL Dayroll bulk-loader for €4,00 this year. Also a p+s Olympus Mju for €7,50.

Stuff I didn't buy was a Vivitar 35mm enlarger, a very pristine Praktica LTL3, and assorted lenses for 35mm slr's which I don't own. Plus the usual crop of "worn-out bakelite cameras" from ages past. All these were on different stalls in different spots throughout the park, so I don't think they were connected.

Marktplaats is a very handy site, but I have never bought anything photographic on there (yet).

I just found out (from a newspaper article) that the Goodwill stores are not all equal -- there's a "high-end" Goodwill store in Minneapolis (the article said) that all the local good stuff gets sent to, while the outlying stores get plastic Kodak P&S's with broken knobs. Scales fall from my eyes!

Passed up a $400 Minolta XD-5 this past weekend but took home a Agfa Karat w/50mm f/2 S-K lens for $20

Just learned a new expression, thanks John.

I stopped at a garage sale this morning and while doing a quick glance around the tables...there it was...a camera wrapped in it's case...I could tell it was an older camera but couldn't tell what it was...my heart beating a little faster now...I picked it up...metal not plastic...hurry up...open it...now...Got the snaps loose on one side and got a quick peek...chrome body...Pentax???...Yup, Pentax ME with a 50mm 2.0 filter and lenscap...
Started to give it a good look and saw it was missing a few things that shouldn't be missing...Film Advance Lever and Hot Shoe...but then the guy assured me "It still works..."
I passed...

I saw but did not buy a Canon AE-1 that was missing the advance lever and bottom plate at the local flea market this weekend. Ended up taking home a Vivitar 283 flash.

Hello..I joined the RFF just this morning in an effort to post a reply to this thread. i think it is wonderful you are able to discover these treasures at such great prices. Now if you would be so kind to entertain a different thought....Please think about taking one of your working cameras or even a kit ( it might even be worth some money) and giving it away ( for free) to your nephew or grandkid or neighbor's kid. Don't think about giving them a piece of crap.. give them something that they can learn photography with... and a roll of b/w film will not kill you. And if you are knowledgable obout film development and printing... change their lives forever! Make them this deal... they may keep and use this kit as long as it suits them but they may not sell it. It must be returned to you or given to another youngster with your approval. Then take twenty minutes to examine their first roll of prints and get ready for a SMILE. I make you this promise...do this for just one kid and it will help change his world. Do this for just two kids and it will change your world...

Heh I gotta say I have yet to ever find any sort of good camera equipment from a garage sell or flea market. The stuff i find in the flea market is generally utter trash and not worth the insanely high prices venders offer it for.
