Gary Reese' OM lens tests

That's actually the first thing I ever found on the internet. Not kidding. Mid- or late-90s. I was looking for information on comparative Zuiko quality, and happened to be at a friend's house one day, where there was a computer...

Finding that page suddenly codified for me why I could print negatives from my Zuiko 35/2 so easily, whereas my two Zuiko portrait lenses cost me weeks of evenings in the darkroom trying to achieve the same crispness. I'd simply had no idea that optics had personalities. After that, I got interested in high-performance glass, and eventually wound up buying a couple of Leica lenses and the requisite metered rear cap for them.

I still have my OM-1n body and the 35/2, though, and one day I'll prolly pick up a Zuiko 100 f/2 and shoot portraits again.

Rick: Thanks for posting that ... the original URL went dead; I knew the pages had moved, but couldn't find it since I always seemed to have "senior moments" when doing my Google search.

It's interesting to note that with more than one lens, sample variation is significant.
