How do you define "debt"? Do you mean big-time, repossessions kind of debt? Or hitting your overdraft facility?

I've bought gear on the basis that it's rare enough to make sure I don't wait till the next one comes along, yet my overdraft facility can handle it till (say) next week when I'm paid. I'll vote yes since that's "debt"

Nope...unless it would pay for itself in a reasonably short time by providing income. Upgrading one's tools is a valid reason, but caving in to Lens or Camera lust isn't an option when it comes to a pastime funded by "discretionary income".

Regards!

oh, i'm talking months, maybe years to pay off. a week is as easy as pie.
In that case I should have voted "no". My photography is strictly hobby and I could not possibly justify years of debt for any item. Add to that the fact that I don't really consider myself "good" and I don't spend time agonising over whether a shot would have been or will be better with the alleged "Leica glow" or some particular lens etc.

No, if I can't pay for it up front then I don't get it. It is only a hobby and not worth getting in debt over.
