I've been limping along with an aged iMac DV and the poor thing was struggling to keep up with the demands of film scanning and my 7MP digital camera. Well, since I got a very nice refund from Uncle Sam this year, I decided to splurge and treat myself to a new computer.

Feast your eyes on the first post from my new Mac Mini G4 1.5GHz with 512MB RAM, 80GB hard drive, and an absolutely gorgeous 19" Xerox widescreen LCD panel (1440x900 resolution). Yes, widescreen really does make a big difference.

It may not be bleeding edge, but at the price I paid for the whole outfit I won't complain. I can also justify it by saying "But I didn't buy another camera...." 😀

OK, I'm done, just had to vent some of my excitement.

Congrats.

My latest laptop (bought about 6 months ago) has a 17" LCD and you're absolutely right how nice is wide - you'll really enjoy it with Photoshop.

My Dualie G4 is still chugging and it seems to me that it will continue for quite a while. Monitors can't seem to keep up with it. Needs more RAM, though...the 768 megs I started with are not quite enough for large Photoshop files AND scanning AND Illustrator. Maybe someday soon I'll actually spend money on the computer instead of photo gear.
