I promised I would'nt, six months ago-when we.....er,...she! decided that I had quite enough cameras to last the rest of my days!, but there's something about black cameras, and for the paltry sum of £16, I could'nt resist this one!. A Yashica 'Electro' 35GT, - been stood idle for a few years, and complete with 'never-ready' case and dead mercury battery!!. A quick trip to Tandy produced a six volt battery that fitted with the help of a bit of plastic tube, and a spring! - and....Yippee!!...the fairy-lights came on!!...and yes!...I seem to have variable speeds, as I twiddle the aperture ring! :D . Learned gentlemen!.....what delights (or otherwise!) can be expected from this weekends trial ??-will that f1.7 Yashinon rival my ancient Nikkors?, and am I likely to get good exposures, without too much playing with the 'ASA' ring ?.....the exitement mounts!!. That parallax-compensated viewfinder is nice, but this one's a bit misty inside, and I'm wondering much hassle it would be to lift the top, and clean? -might leave well-enough alone!!. Am I going to be disapointed? or will this camera become a regular travel companion?

Dave.

If you've been around long enough for your current 49 posts, you should know that the Yashica RFs have a big following here. I don't happen to have one but from using Yashinon SLR lenses, I can tell you the Yashinon (not Yashikor) lenses take a back seat to none. You will be happy. I can't help you with your other questions, but plenty of people here can and no doubt will.

Dave, if you want repair info, talk to fellow members owlspace or greyhoundman. They are the experts at these Yashica's.

I have a chrome Electro GS, boy what a sharp lens it has. It is probably as sharp as the zuiko on my Olympus 35 SP.

I was NEVER dissapointed by my GSN. Exposures dead on and photos sharp as a tac. Why did I sell it..............why?!!!!!!

Thanks, Will, - I'll give the camera a test this weekend, then think about lifting the lid! - I really need a +2 dioptre correction lens as well!

Cheers Dave.
