...your leica is out for a fix.

I just shipped out my M6 today for a CLA... feeling somewhat empty of no longer in the possesion of a metal chunk of photographic tool, I went on ebay to bid on whatever Xpan I can find.

"Oooh found one! NIB Hasselblad Xpan Kit, sold by a local dealer in Chicago. 4 hours left and still only at $1100!?"

I keep watching, and waiting.... now 15 minutes left. I put in $1527 - boom! I'm the high bidder at 1525! Took about 2 minutes for me to get over my euphoria... Now I'm starting to have second thoughts.

"Jeez $1525 sure is a lot of money. I can buy a lot of other things with $1525."

5 minutes left, and I'm still the high bidder..

"Oh man, I really don't want this camera now, comman someone please outbid me!!"

Meanwhile, I start browsing through some Xpan galleries and start to get inspirations. $1525 apparently is no longer an issue anymore... 2 minutes remaining..

"Oh crap, I'm actually going to win this camera!" - a mixed feeling of hardware craving and 'What the hell am I doing?' overcomes me...

15secs remaining.. "Oh shit, I might as well fire up the PayPal account now."

4secs remaining 'You've been outbid. Current price: $1550. Do you want to bid again?'

"HELL NO!" My heart is pounding by now...

Suffice it say, that was a very close call. I need to stay away from Ebay for the next 3 weeks until my Leica gets shipped back...

The xpan is a great camera though. If I could convince myself to shoot film, I'd love to have one again.

Oh, I know that feeling... I bet you felt relieved!!! Luckily for me limited $$$ and serious need for other expensive necessities keeps me from looking at my saved 'leica', 'contax', and even 'rollei' searches these days... Although, I have picked up a few select FSU items here and there that have probably set back my 'M' fund more than I realize... Note to self: stay the hell away from eb*y and wait 'till you can afford a nice M3/M4-P that shows up on RFF...

I'm glad it all turned out for the best in the end!

Yes - there have been several times I was relieved to find out there was a bigger idiot than me out there. Sometimes only by seconds.
