Gave up on the X-Pro 2...

I love mine, but if it isn't doing it for you and your style of photography, then you should change. Anyone giving him a hard time would do the same.

I like my Fuji as well but it's only a XPro 1, with digital there's alway's
something we could complain about distortion here, color there. When
I get annoyed I get one of my Rollei's and use those.

I still like the Fuji system a lot.
Relying largely on jpegs out of the camera these days.
Converting RAW is a time consuming hassle for the 90% + of my images that are never printed.
If I'm doing something destined for paper I use MF film or My canons.
The Fuji has great lenses and a super form factor.
Uploading gorgeous jpegs quickly to mobile makes it go for me.

fuji 24mp landscape photos printed on 17x22 inch paper look good to me. where does this become a problem?

aizan, sometimes the foliage looks really strange and is difficult to fix.
I also have had trouble with red tones but no more than other digital systems. (yes, like roses).

i have committed myself to fuji for awhile now and barring some really bad move on fuji's part, i plan on staying with them.
love the lenses and the xe line and the new xe3 seems made for me...i could not be more pleased.

All good! Of course seriously who wouldn't... I happy with my decision no regrets whatsoever... Sony/Zeiss is delivering for me.

Wonder if Fuji is working with firmware update to fix this? They usually react when such issues arise on interwebs.

Ah I kinda doubt it... I don't think this is a firmware thing at all... This is a sensor thing..that's been there in varying degrees ever since the first X-Trans sensor

What a disappointment to read this. I have been hoping to hear that you were picking up film photography again and thought that, perhaps, revelations such as this thread would move you along! Digital is easy, convenient and even essential to some sorts of photography today, but of all the exaggerated products out there claiming to be the future of photography Fuji has the biggest hype going.

35Photo thanks for posting.

This is one issue that has held me from jumping into the Fuji system (well that and my reticence to buy a whole new system). Even though the lenses and the camera handling are undeniably great, I haven't taken the plunge. After playing with the Sony A7 and A7II for a year or so I ditched my Nikon gear and happily won't look back at DSLR's or big bully cameras (unless the sensors are HUGE). While I don't love the camera handling of the Sonys the files are really nice, and the native glass is really good. And with the Leica lenses they are tiny. I can get by quite well with manual focus for 99% of my work, even with these cameras and most adapted lenses, so I can play with collection of cool old glass from several systems and still have the full frame with angles of coverage and D.O.F. characteristics that I'm used to, and that was the other big decision maker in my mind.

I'm still hoping for a really good, small digital from Nikon or a move to fix the moire issues from Fuji, or for Sony to start making their cameras handle like cameras rather than electronic gadgets, but in the meantime I shoot with what I have and can tolerate. As long as my standards are low enough, I can be happy.

Apples to oranges, comparing Fuji X to Sony E-mount (with Zeiss glass). Two very different small format systems with different strengths and weaknesses.

One of the perverse aspects of gear discussion is the apparent need to lay negative claims at the feet of brands one didn't choose to keep/use, often exaggerating the perceived fault(s).

OP: I'm glad you like your Sony cam and Z lenses. I respect your opinion regarding Fuji X files. X-Trans watercolor effect isn't exactly new news. Plenty of water over that dam, and long-term Fuji users have long since sussed out how to deal with it.

It is an artifact of the X-Trans sensor, not something a firmware update can address. Some RAW converters handle it better than others. Some photographers are more sensitive to it than others. Some photographers have read about it on the web and go looking for it. The power of suggestion is strong, particularly at high magnifications. Film users would be horrified if they pixel-peeped to the same extent - grain clumps and dye clouds.

I just posted my experience I thought that's the whole point of threads...? I know its not new news or anything... Yes, I've heard about the Fuji stigma for awhile overlooked it didn't see it in the samples before I purchased... Then I experienced it and confirmed what folks have been talking about in the past... It might be helpful to someone else..

I struggled with the same issue on the older 16mp sensor and ended up testing every RAW convertor I could find with lackluster results. Having read claims of the issue being resolved or minimized on the newer 24mp models, my interest was renewed; so much so that I was considering a the X-E3 when it releases.

Thanks for the post 35photo - the credit card is safely stowed back in the wallet for now.
