Gear suggestion on travelling to India

I'd actually recommend a photo vest, Domke or the like. There are some buildings that prohibit photographs, such as train stations, and they don't even like you to carry camera bags in there. My vest drew no attention (of course, this was a decade ago). I spent a month there with a Nikon F3, a 28, 50 and 75-130. If I went again, would probably do the M8 28/50 thing.

Easier said than done for people like me who like to bring everything and "be prepared".
I travelled India/Asia for 3 months in 2005: As stated, India is low on violent crimes, but there are skilled locals in the tourist areas who would love to take home one of your cameras.

Dont mean to make you paranoid, but they are watching you closer than you are watching them. How to overcome this? As suggested, be careful and vigilant with your safety, it will quickly become habit, and you wont have to worry about your gear getting stolen.

When I went to India it was my first time really using a RF set up: M6, 4 lenses: 15/28/50/90, and a Canon S70 P&S (equivalent to today's canon S90). If I were to do it again, I would take 2 RF bodies: one digital, one film (M8 and M6) with 3 lenses and a digital P&S: eg DLux. But I would not pack all 3 cameras/lenses around all the time.

Leave one of the cameras at the hotel, not just to avoid putting all your eggs in one basket, but also having minimal gear in your bag allows for quicker and easier decision making in terms of what camera/lens combo to take a picture with. Too many choices allows for the InDecisive Moment. But having 2 RF bodies allows for MUCH less lens changing, and more time to enjoy the experience.

Just make sure to post the pics on RFF when you return!
