These listings really turn me off photography. Let me explain: here's a relatively old (not really old at 67; you're only as old as you want to be) man, offering his loot to the world as if everybody were waiting for him to unload it. Sure, he has some good things and the watch and the Mamiya RB67 thrown in for dramatic flair... and all this grand gesture only makes me think he wants a big buck (or make a point of some kind). I don't know... does he think a museum will bid for his stuff?

Nope... this guy, and the one who offers periodically his flagged Leica collection don't give my blood pressure a rise, sorry. You'd be better off with the cash... anytime.

Gotta watch this one. It'll be the same as it was with the one-million buck auction of 10,000 bodies a while ago: no bids, no sale.

I dunno, I guess I always try to put a positive spin on this kind of thing:

-- Maybe he's a dealer who's getting out of the business.

-- Maybe he needs a lot of money in a hurry for his prostate surgery.

-- Maybe his wife said, "Enough is enough, already!"

The only thing that irritates me is that there are a few things in there on which I'd like to bid. But the fact that he insists on lumping it all together means that probably the only people in a position to bid would be other dealers.

That Rolex alone retails for $19,000 (and isn't even listed in the auction title). I haven't gonet hrough the cameras, but it would be interesting to see what everything would likely bring auctioned separately. This whole lot was listed a couple months back for the same $25,000 starting bid with no takers.

I actually purchased from this seller several months ago. A 90 summicron (made in Canada) with clean glass, worn barrel, smooth aperture/focus, with caps -- $350 BIN, or maybe it was $375. At the same time, he had several other items listed individually. It must be recently that he stopped listing them individually.

If you had the cash lying around (and that's a lot of cash!) you could probably get a bargain by buying the lot and selling the Rolex.

I really did not understand the auction. I have never seen one with so much extra shit in it. He could easily listed it all seperate for the time it took to load all the BS.

Hey
We RFF'ers should buy it together😉
You know what, I will volunteer to go there personally and waste my time to check every item with film (less the rolex and the swiss army knife). We share tmy travel costs.
Well, who's in?

Sorry... I posted before my morning coffee... you know, the brew that turns the grumpy switch off. 🙁

But now I'm back to my usual perky self! 😀

In any case... it's a bit of a turn-off. A whole kit-and-kaboodle of stuff, all in one lump.

Kinda difficult to handle. Not even maxing out all my credit cards would cover the price.
