General Do request support for X-TRANS RAW files from Apple

Hello,


I've seen a lot of people around here being unhappy due to poor support of X-Pro1'1/X-E1's RAW files. There is an easy way to make this improve in a future -- write Apple about it so that they see that there is actual demand for such kind of a feature. Even if you don't use Apple products please write them that you still want your RAW support.

No harm in writing, I suppose, but what I'd really like to see is Adobe improve their support in ACR. Currently you can convert the RAW files in the latest version of ACR, but the result is awful. Also, I suspect Fuji are the ones to nag since I think they could provide info to both Adobe and Apple that would help a lot. Personally, this is the one issue that prevents me from purchasing one of the new Fuji cameras.

Could you explain what exactly is awful about the results of the Fuji RAW files in ACR? I've been trying to get someone to explain it to me, but so far, everyone who has complained about it, don't even have one of the new Fuji cameras (such as yourself.) I sincerely would like to know in case there is something I am missing or not catching when I shoot/process RAW files with my new Fuji X-E1.

...I just purchased the Fujifilm X-E1 (and the Fujifilm GF670!) I keep hearing people still not liking the RAW support in LR4.2 but it seems to be fine for me. I guess my question is, what is wrong with it? What is it missing?

Here is a first test shot I did with no post-processing other than converting from RAW to jpeg; all manual settings (except the white balance was set to auto) metered hand-held with a Sekonic L-358.

I also created a comparison of the raw vs the film simulation modes here if anyone is interested... but I really am liking the way the RAW images are coming out for me.

To me, it just seems to be a lot of mis-information and/or FUD being spread about this, but again, I could just be missing something.

Support for Sigma cameras has been requested repeatedly for several years. No harm in asking Apple, but do not get your hopes up.

It's funny.
I downloaded a RAW RAF file.
Photoshop CS6 on windows can handle the file.
But Snapseed on windows won't open the file. Their support said they use the Windows codec basically and its not their problem!
The email system in my iPad can also show an image using the raw file.
It's a mess!
