Generic hood and front cap for the Millenium Nikon 50 1.4 lens

Me again, with another question regarding the 50mm 1.4 lens that came with the re-issued S3 I just bought.
The front cap that came with the lens is incredibly useless, as it falls off very easily.
I found a cap from a jar of eye makeup that I've modified and am currently spraying black, that will slip onto the front of the lens, but am curious if anyone actually makes a slip on cap for this lens that won't cost the GNP of a small emerging nation to purchase.
And, the spring-clip hood also tries desperately to fall off at every opportunity.
Similarly, does anyone know of a generic screw-on hood that can be substituted, again at a reasonable cost?

Try eBay seller heavystar (all one word). He has both hoods and lens caps that should fit. If you want something more vintage but don't want to spring for the price of original Nikon stuff, try finding a Walz lens hood made specifically for the Nikkor 5cm f1.4.

I lost the cap for my w-nikkor 35/2.5 and found the generic replacement in one try at my local camera store. My lens is, I think, 45.5 mm. If the cap is that common, maybe the hood is, too? Also, check with TomA at RapidWinder.com. He may have some ideas...

Thanks for the quick replies.
I'm a function over form person, so period-correct accessories mean nothing to me.
A modern generic rubber hood with a plastic threaded base that fits the lens will do very nicely.
Similarly a slip-on plastic or metal generic front cap.
And I'll follow up on those leads.

This is the YAMA hood from Japan. Screws in to the filter thread and stays put! Solid enough to take a small "bang" from a door frame too. The Nikon hoods are pretty bad - fall off almost instantly. Nikon sold their lenses without hoods and hence the scarcity of them. Many buyers did not buy a hood and those who did lost them quickly.
I have tried the Heavystar hoods - good, but a bit bulky. The YAMA hoods look slick and hold up well. Some early 50f1.4 has a slightly different pitch and can be stiff to mount the hood on - but it works fine on the Millennium 50f1.4.
The YAMA hoods are not cheap (partly due to the high Yen) but I find being the best. Only minor bug is that if you use filters on the lens - the thread on the 43 mm filters can be a bit shallow.
Check with Jonmanjiro as to where to get them from Japan. I dont think that anyone brings them in to the US.

This cheap but nice hood (CNC machined, one piece) is of the very same quality as the Yama one, and the ability to fit the cap on the hood, leaving the hood on the lens all the time, is great.

Cherry on the cake, this hood also fits the 35/2.5 and 35/1.8 without intruding into these lenses FOV (with both the 35mm lenses don't fit any filter between the lens and the hood though).

I have the Yama hood that Tom described, and bought it from jonmanjiro. It is a fixture on my Millenium Nikkor. Works beautifully and looks way cool. The only caveat is the pitch -- for some reason, the pitch is different between the Yama hood and the Millenium nikkor (this is what Tom referred to as the thread). You can force it in or buy an inexpensive 43-43 adapter ring which will fit well into the Nikkor, then force the Yama hood into the adapter.

I just received for my Limited S3 + 50mm f1.4 a hood from an ebay seller called fotopus.
Look for item called:
43mm Metal Lens Hood + Cap for Rangefinders
It fits perfectly, it is in metal and includes a cover and the seller is efficient (very good service).

I noticed that Camera Quest is selling 43mm hoods with caps for that will fit a number of Nikon rangefinder lenses.
Please forgive my ignorance but the 50 1.4 that came with my re-issued S3 is the only rangefinder 50 I've ever even handled so I don't know for certain if it will accept this hood.
I emailed Stephen but have not heard back from him yet (perhaps he's on holidays), so am asking the Nikon rangefinder people at large here if they can answer my question.
His hoods are more expensive than the ones others suggested, but I've always been impressed with the quality of Stephens products and the service he provides, so I'd rather deal with him.
