Give everything the dumperoo and buy a couple of one ounce gold bullion coins.
Use a cheap camera for a couple of years and then you can buy back anything you want when people are rioting in the streets.

PS: The D700 is a marvelous camera in almost every respect. It only loses points with me for being somewhat too heavy.

I went thru a similar situation. I decided to keep my Leica and glass and save up for an M9. Why not have the best and be happy. I went thru the DSLR thing and it is not for me. Just stay with the Leica format. happiness.

Another point of wiew, keep the M6 and lenses.
I was tempted to sell my M6 to buy digital material or aid to pay an M digital, but we ( my wife an myself ) decided that I was not a good idea, even if the M6 is sleeping in a bag since I came to digital.
We thought that this kind of camera would "survive" for a long time and would be inherited and used by my kids and I hope by theirs. This is more valuable than the price you can recover at the moment with film equipment.
I am not shure the same will be possible with my D700, even if this camera is absolutely fantastic.

I can't imagine having a serious "what camera should I keep" discussion with one's wife with a straight face.
"Inherited and used by your kids"??! You're in Wolkenkuckucksheim. They will dump the old junk for cash before the undertaker drains your blood and puts you in a cheap burial suit.

Whatever
I have a D700, and I'm getting rid of most of my rare screw mount Leica stuff to get the M9. The D700 is a very nice camera, but it is a heavy beast - particularly compared to a Leica M. Guess it all depends on the type of shooting you do, if weight/size is a consideration, how important that Leica glass quality is, etc.
BTW, do you have any Nikon lenses that you'd be able to use with this D700, or is that something you'd have to get as well?

Thanks Vince. I see that it is heavy and bigger than a RF, and that's why I'm keeping the G2 outfit, which I really like too.
Only problem is that no one seems that interested in a trade as yet. Any offers? anyone?

I owned an M4 for about 27 years, during which time I also owned a CL, an M6 and a Digilux 2 (oops, almost forgot the Digilux Zoom). I had to sell the M4 & M6 to pay for an M8. When regret set it (and I replenished some of my savings), I picked up an M2. Some regrets are easily cured when the solution is money. Missed opportunities to take shots, on the hand, vanish, not to be repeated. Gear is just stuff. Life and shooting is what we do between buying and selling (and repairing) our stuff.
Thanks! That's how I feel too.

If you only really look at the Leica, just come on here everyday and you can look at loads of them. Sell your Leica gear, I hate to hear of great gear not being used

It all comes down to money, IMHO. If you don't need the cash from your current gear, just go out and buy the D700 or whatever else strikes your fancy. Try buying "like new" or used because new DSLRs lose substantial value when the next model appears. If it turns out that you like the DSLR, then decide whether or not to sell either the M6TTL or the G2. Either way, any and all of those cameras are not appreciating to any degree, so you can always buy the same equipment back later on, should you change your mind back to film.
The only time to agonize over these decisions is when you don't have the money to spend on more gear or when what you might sell is so rare that replacing it might prove difficult or impossible. I once sold a Zeiss Hologon camera in a weak moment and now regret that move because they have become so damn expensive. Not true with the MTTL and the G2 gear. My 2cents.

Good choice!
Your Contax pictures are excellent. Proves that AF is not evil (I also quite like my G2 - except for the tiny finder...)
