Get YOUR name domain name!

Some one else took my name in the .com and the worst part is that he is younger and more succesful than me. However I was able to take the .com in my shortened version name. ie davejones.com instead of davidjones.com. Also you can throw in your middle initial ie davidpjones.com. I orderd my brothers, sisters and mothers name and told them they can have it but they all think I am crazy and don't get it. I told them they have a year to think about it before it expires.
Don't forget that you can park the name forever, you don't have to develop it. Any body can take your name and trash your reputation, ie: an ex wife or a competitor. It happens all the time. Also you should consider your country code as well.I believe .com will always be king but I could be wrong

Or, other than internet access and maybe email, you do not need to have a digital footprint. Personally, don't want it and don't need it. But I do not have any plans of making a living from photography or anything that would benefit from social media.

after a lot or work I switched from Register.com to Whois.com
I have saved a LOT of money. cheers CameraQuest! I owe you an ale.

Some bright spark in the local council decided that have a .com domain implies you are running a business and employed an agency to chase people down for business tax.
Last month I had to send a letter stating that my .com was non commercial ( had it for ten years and just use it for putting photos on-line )

I checked and my name is available, for the ridiculously low price of $14,995.00 . I think I'll pass on the opportunity.

I'm lucky in that I can confidently claim that I'm the only person in the whole wide world that has my name. I own the domain FrontnameLastname.com, FrontnameShortlastname.com and Frontname.photo. For less than 20€ a year I own all three. Pretty sweet deal. I recommend Namecheap.com as a domain registrar. Nothing but good experiences with them.
