getting an "old" Tokina slr lens fixed.

I have a Tokina 28-70 ƒ2.6-2.8 ATX II that is decentered and has a bit of haze on the inside. Its a beautiful lens based off of an Angenieux ciné lens. I'd hate to retire it, but pulling large prints with this lens is painful.

I've contacted Tokina, and they told me that they stopped repairing the lens after they ran out of parts and the local camera repair shop told me that its too "old" to fix...

I love this lens. and its fantastic and a wonderful portrait lens. does anyone know of a shop that is good at fixing things that others dont want to fix?

You could try doing an ongoing ebay search, in hopes of getting another one. It might take a while, but if you can get a good one, it might be worth the wait.

Or maybe hunt down a private technician who can do it? KEH has a repair service.

I think, that no matter how cheap the repair would be, it will be more than you can pay for used lenses that are certainly better than this one.

That's probably true from a purely financial point of view; but if the lens is important enough to PatrickONeill then that's also irrelevant.

Focal Point lens repair might be worth a try, but any decent repair shop should be able to service it. I've had equipment repaired for more than the piece is worth. We all have our reasons.
