Question 1. What's the best way to get the glass out of a brass filter ring without harming the ring. I did it once successfully using a hammer to bust it out, but I had to bang it pretty hard, and I'm concerned about harming the ring on this one, which is a Leitz A36 clamp-on filter (not very cheap, even when the glass is messed up).
Question 2. I'm going to jury-rig a SOOGZ-type A36 to 39E filter adapter (incidentally also incorporating a lens hood), by gluing a 39mm B+W rubber hood to the A36 filter ring. What's a good glue for making a fairly secure (but not too secure) bond between plastic and metal? If this contraption doesn't work the way it's supposed to, I want to be able to take it apart without harming the filter ring. How about Elmer's glue or some acrylic polymer stuff?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
