I stumbled on this article today from the web thanks to scoopit web site that macjim posted about a while back...

Anyway an interesting read. Explains things better than I could ever do. Found some things I need to try for myself. 🙂

The xp1 is a good camera, articles like this really help everyone get the most use out of it and gets people who have decided not to at least give it a try to at least think about the camera again that is a good thing.

I was going to add that most of this applies to the X100 as well, but I see the author also points that out in his PS.

Using vertical lines to focus on instead of horizontal lines (with the camera in portrait orientation) has really been the best tip, I think. It's unusual for contrast detection AF, but a simple experiment shows that it does work like that.
