GF1 confirmed to be real...

The official info is on dpreview now, and of course the EVF slot is not a finger print reader...

I am surprised that it is larger then the EP1 which already is not a small compact camera. Also the 20mm lens seems larger then expected. Time will tell if it ends up in my bag or not because its not all that small after all but you get that delicious f1.7 aperture. Lets hope its not overly pricey and that they will sell it separate from the camera.

On a side note regarding lens size, im still not impressed with he size of m4/3 lenses. Seems Voigtlander has achieved much better results with larger image circles and larger apertures. Take the 35 1.4 or 40 1.4 for example. Sure they dont have AF motors in them but look at the size difference not to mention that they had to be designed for a larger image circle which needs more space....

So the add-on EVF is go.
Presumably the same 12mp sensor in other m43 cameras, but with improved noise reduction.
720p video.

The real questions are:
How much for the camera?
How much more for the EVF?
Will the 20/1.7 be a good lens?
How much for the 20/1.7?

If the camera + EVF + 20/1.7 will go for under $1000, it should sell very well.

Edit: The 45/2.8 Macro looks pretty sweet as well. Here's hoping it doesn't cost $800 or something.

I just saw it on dpreview. Looks very interesting. There will likely be a Leica branded variant announced on the 9th. I wouldn't be surprised.

Guys if you go to dpreview they have a hands on with the GF1 (im not impressed) and it has the exact same sensor as in the G1. Also there are some basic price info and a small blurb about the clip on finder being disappointing

Here is what dpreview has about price:
UK: £549.99 (body), £783 (with 20mm lens), LVF1 viewfinder: £186 (UK)

And also in the samples you can see pictures taken with the 20mm f1.7 lens but I noticed that it shows the taken aperture being 1.8 on all the wide open shots. Wonder whats thats about.

I'm liking what I'm reading and hearing so far, and that's saying something. For the time being, this goes on my Just One Digital Camera list.

I am almost certain now since the Leica M, R to 4/3 adapter was "designed" and "engineered" by Leica itself. It would make perfect sense if leica would put a rebranded micro 4/3 on the table.

I was hoping that the sensor would be difference from G1. I've used both G1 and E-P1, and was very impressed with high ISO performance with E-P1, but way less so with G1.

Oh, and maybe now we can really expect Digital Leica CL based on GF1?

This has been my experience too, the EP1 does perform better then my old G1 when it came to high iso and now that there are faster lenses coming out, im even more interested because with that 1,7 and my ep1, low light shooting is a new horizon.
