GF2 warmth question

Got my m39 adapter today so I could use my used GF2 I got last week. I noticed the body is a little warm on the end with the battery. The battery sent with body looks to be a OEM Panasonic.

Could I have defective battery or body? Seems like a little warmth would create sensor noise, so it doesn't feel right.

I don't think an overheating battery would create sensor noise, but I could be wrong.

I think the bigger danger from an overheating lithium-ion battery is meltdown, which might result in the destruction of the camera.

I would check the battery chamber for any metallic-type debris. Barring that, maybe it just runs warm. As always, the best way is to try a new and/or different battery.

Heat does have an influence on noise: at least according to Wikipedia. But if you were worried 'bout noise, the GF2 might not have been the best choice, just use it as a 100-400 iso camera and you're okay.

Trying another battery is sound advice.

It isn't a question of native noise, but that of introduced noise. Long exposures, such as those in astronomical photography, build heat in the sensor and add noise. If my camera or battery is running at above normal temps., then noise may be introduced at low ISO and short exposures, not to mention camera damage.

My GH3 and GX7 bodies get a tiny bit warm around the battery after shooting for a while. I believe this is normal. I have used several cmeras that get very warm during use. The worst offender was the Minolta DiMAGE 7 that would uncomfortably warm.
