GF670, few Questions

hello everyone, first post here

I've been looking for a MF camera and have got it down to a gf670 or a Plaubel Makina 67. I'm leaning towards the GF670 because i was hoping for a camera that shoots 6x6 and has a in built meter (id love a rollei gx but the price is way out of my budget)

my questions are how many filters can you stack before vignetting kicks in and how much of a pain is using filters on the GF670? would taking filters on and off regularly ruin the folding lens or is the build solid?

i was also wondering what the overall built quality is like?

If you'd really love a Rollei, get a Rollei. GX maybe out of your budget, but 2.8f, 2.8e, 3.5f or any of a multitude of other models won't be.

i did have an 2.8D but not having a inbuilt meter and the dim focusing screen drove me crazy, image quality was sensational thou 😉

i dont think taking on and off constantly will hurt anything.

i have been using nd filter on my gf670, but everytime when i am done with it, and want to fold the camera, i have to screw it off. which i find very troublesome after a while.

The fuji gf670w is an amazing camera. sollidly built, great vf. It's a little chunky, which takes some getting used to, but if you've shot medium format before it won't be long before you're used to it.

I'm a little wary of the durability of folding cameras, however.

I've never stacked filters on mine, so cannot address the vignetting conundrum, but there should be no problem for the lens/bellows unless you habitually overtighten (lids, filters, screws, whatever).

In any case, you must remove all filters and reset the lens to infinity to fold the camera shut, which is a sort of failsafe. It is a robust, elegant portable camera with a good meter and a great viewfinder/RF patch. Like other MF Fujis, it can take Nikon diopters.

I have both the gf670 and gf670w.
The folding mechanism is pretty sturdy, I close it after each shot, usually. Putting filters in the hood is the best option for me. I cannot imagine wanting to stack filters, though.


The gf670w is better for filters, though. Both cameras are awesome, i would suggest them to everyone.

I'll add that I shoot a lot, hundreds of roll through my GF670 over the last 2 1/2 years, it has been all over the world with me, many countries, and is still shooting strong. Only complaint is that it eats batteries in the cold. EATS THEM.
