GIII battery equivalent 675 with 0-ring?

Well, the 675 hearing aid battery is, I believe, a 1.4 volt battery that some have used to substitute for the PX625/PX13 mercury battery (1.3 volts) using O rings. I think I remember that the O ring needed is #9.

I have never tried the substitution but many here have said its a good solution to the PX extinction.

One solution for the GIII is to remove the top cover. Then on a sunny day or at least very bright day, you can adjust the meter via the usual trim pot to take silver cells.

It has to be on a bright day though. The difference between the 2 cells gets greater the brighter the light.

PS. The nominal voltage of mercury and zinc/air or wein cells is exactly the same as they have the same chemical reaction to produce the juice 😉

Wein cells (Zinc-air) are pricey, but available in many sizes. Just google a bit to find a retailer. Hearing aid batteries are supposed to last only about a month. Tha Wein cells about a year. I have recently bought several for my Konica S3.

Mrb625

Mrb625

The appropriate Wein Cell of the correct voltage and size (1.35) is the MRB625, and they are available from a few eBay sellers @ 2 for $8 and with shipping generally $10-11 total.

Have one in my GIII and one fresh in the desk. I take them out and tape the holes shut when the camera is going to be in the bag for a long time.

I'm very happy using 675 hearing aid batteries in an adapter (which contains an o-ring) sold by www.camera-care.com ($22 for the adapter, two 675 batteries and shipping). It provides 1.35 volts and if you remove the battery (675 and adapter) and put the protective tab on the + when not in use, the battery lasts a long time.
