Hi, I have had my Canonet GIII QL17 for one year now and embarassing enough I have only shot a couple of rolls through it. I mainly use MF and I find it hard to shoot a whole 36-roll 🙂

Anyway. When I look at my negatives they look way underexposed. If I press the battery-test, the blue light lits up.

Is this a common problem?

Should I just test and set the ISO @ 200 with a 400-film or what to do?

I have also noticed that indoor-photos are even more underexposed, so simply change the ISO may not be good enough.

I bought the battery fresh last summer and as you understand I havn't used it heavily.

what kind of battery are you using? If it is 1.5 volts it may be altering the sensitivity of the metering so that it is causing underexposure.

You can either adjust the meter compared to a known good meter. Or you can purchase a Wein cell, which is 1.35 volts, to replace the PX625.

try this link for battery sources-

How do you mean that I can adjust it?

The only meter I have is a spot-meter. Do you mean I should find out what ISO to use so the GIII's meters the same as the spot?

The battery you linked to is the ones I bought some weeks after I received the camera, so it is 1.35 V.

I'll look for a link that depicts where to locate the adjustment for the QL's meter. Its a screw.

I have never used a spot meter so I don't about using for your comparison. I have a very low end Sekonic that gives decent insidence readings.

Or you could use the GIII in manual mode with a sperate light meter for reference.
