Geeze!
If there was one here for sale today, it sure SOLD fast, cuz I don`t see it
I heard of one sold last week on evilbay for $500 *WITH THE FACTORY HOOD!* That was a good deal, (and what they are really worth together with a hood)
I`m possibly on to one now at a very good price, if things turn out I might have one shortly?
I have to find out if Walz or Kenko made a generic hood for it, while paying like $200+ for a hood is just outragous, I`ve seen solid 55mm hoods that I could possibly use with a step up ring, but I`m not paying the CRAZY collectors price, for a hood that`s bound to get a ding, dent or chip in it someday!

Think Different
By the way, I must disagree with Mackinaw; I don't find the images too sharp...I guess beauty is in the computer of the beholder.
Not too sharp but overly-sharpened, there's a difference. I'd love to see one of Krosya's shots (which are very good) with the sharpening software turned off. I'm guessing the pictures would look totally different.

Maybe. I find with any film scans, that a certain amount of sharpening at the final output size is in order though. And how much, is entirely up to the photographer. I don't find Kroysa's images "overly-sharpened" and especially at these small sizes, it doesn't much matter to me.

I wonder if it matters what monitor you are looking at - I have 2 laptops and a desktop - all have different monitors and my own pictures look somewhat different on each one. I dont think they look "overly-sharpened" on either one, but they do look different.

Very Nice, I more than likely have a lens "secured" now, from a private Photographer here in Fla. a late production f1.2 with black plastic cap and factory UV filter, it needs a CLA due to a stiff aperture ring, but it has no haze or dings and has clean, clear glass for $300 and he`s got a "user" factory hood, someplace too that he`s trying to find as well (might be like $50/$75 we haven`t worked on a price for that yet), so as I cross fingers I hope I`ll have one of these to play with very soon as well
*OHH I WANT TO THANK BOB FOR SENDING ME THE INFO ON THAT ONE LENS...ONE THING LED TO ANOTHER, AND A FRIEND OF A FRIEND OF A FRIEND HAD ONE THAT NEEDS WORK*
Then I`ll start a f1.2 "Pretti PinUp" thread and shoot my retro models with it.
I really can`t wait to use one, I don`t think I`ll be stopping down more than f1.4 with it
- it`s going to stay up in Dreamland!

Memphis,
Very kool work
It just goes to show that this is a very artistic lens and it`s signature is unique and fine on it`s own, IT SCREAMS 1960`s Photojournalist style and I think that`s where I`m going to keeping it as well working in a Black N' White artistic PinUp and Fetish, I know that my models will love it in a Retro 1950`s/60`s implied topless photo mode.
I do believe that between the f1.2 the f1.5 and the f1.5 Xenon and Summarit, those 4 lenses will be perfecting that true vintage "Girlie" magazine style I love so much
Keep up the great work!

Memphis,
Another story/rumor often told about this lens is that the Bokeh/Signature @ f1.4 is smoother/creamier and better looking than the f1.4 lens at f1.4
(that`s another reason why I wanted a f1.2, because I did`nt like the signature my f1.4 had, so I sold it.)
Do you have anything shot stopped down at f1.4?
Tom

Krosya, compare your pictures with one of Memphis's latest submissions. Your pictures look almost "brittle" when compared to his (or mine, check my gallery for a whole mess of 50/1.2 pics).
I don't want to belabor this or criticize your photography, which I consider quite good. But I'm a stickler for not over-processing my scans. Just personal bias I guess.

mackinaw - I think some of what you are seeing is grain-aliasing, and might be due to the scanner used. Not to the amount of sharpening applied.

Here is another pic from this lens at 1.2. It doesnt look oversharpened to me, yet I didnt do anything different compared to the others I have posted here. What do you think? :

WOW!
Now that`s cream in my coffee - yeah, I`m gonna LOVE this lens, I`m sooo Jonesin!!!!!
Tom
PS: It`s creamy and delicate like Sonnar Bokeh.....and not "seasickish" - BUT, it has a signature all of it`s own, not Sonnarish, not Plannarish...and certainly not Noctiluxish, but better!

Thanks William!
What a GREAT article
Well, if we all keep raving here, we`re going to have another "cult" lens here on our hands
I can`t wait till I have one in my hands to start to create, I`ve already warned my personal assistant, that she`s going to be modeling overtime, once I get one of these!
Tom
PS: Check your messages William, I found a very strange early production CZJ F1.5/50 Sonnar in LTM scaled in FEET!!!!!!

Well, I just secured a nearly mint/mint minus one (late 1967) with the original front cap and UV Filter for a $300 trade.
All I need now is the original "late" lens case, a rear cap, and the factory vented hood and case.
(I might have a lead on a hood soon?)
So soon I`ll be adding some photos here as well, taken with the legendary f1.2
