I've made it my principle in life to always keep my glass full.

Never mind, I just drank it.
In reality I'm more of a pessimist or realist. When there is something presented as a "new shiny project" then I can immediately list a number of potential problems.
Sod the optimists, in the end the pessimist is always right.

Voted half full, although I'm more the type that simply uses small glasses, that way simple things can make me happy.

But people do tend to look at you a bit strangely if you drink gin from the bottle. I tried it once in 1966 or so. I don't think I've bothered since.
Get a hip flask. According to the films, it's really cool to drink out of your hip flask...

Half empty per chance?
Nope. You just don't get it. First, half empty and half full mean THE EXACT SAME THING.
Second, an intelligent person looks at the world with an appreciation for the fact that, no matter what silly fantasies the weak-minded (90% of humanity) deceive themselves with, there is such a thing as absolute reality. A realist is neither universally pessimistic or universally optimistic.
The fact is, that every situation needs to be evaluated on its own merits. Sometime you will find cause for optimism, sometimes for pessimism.
One of the biggest problems with American society today is the denial of negative truths. People here would rather cut off their own feet than face the fact that things can go terribly wrong if we allow it to happen. Refusing to face that fact, and living in an enforced alternate reality of constant optimism allows others to manipulate and control you.
A regime of constant pessimism, where expressing optimistic ideas is condemned, would be just as bad for the same reasons.

. . . half empty and half full mean THE EXACT SAME THING.. .
Disputable. See post 6 (PB908):
- if I pour water halfway to an empty glass, then I think it is half full
- then if I drink water halfway from full glass of water, then think it is half empty
Cheers,

Well if it was you that only half filled the glass then I'd think you were a mean host. On the other hand, if I'd just drunk half the glass I'd be starting to look where the refill was coming from.

The glass is always half full with water.
Why, do you realize that 70 percent of you is water? And as human beings, you and I need fresh, pure water to replenish our precious bodily fluids.
