On my birthday, I am going to try to go one full year without buying.

I may sell stuff, but I will not buy any gear.

I will buy only film.

Let's see if I can do this.

Hmm, I'd find this tough I think, as I already have my eye on a Fotoman 45SPS. Thankfully otherwise my camera cravings are a fraction of what they used to be.

The frightening part is how much damage I can do in one week, before my "fast" begins.

:-(

haha, How FUN does that sound.....go silly crazy and then your done

i have reached my limit and may toast to you by joining in your 'theme' for the year
when's your Birthday...

Sept 16. I have one offer out to buy a camera, but haven't heard back yet. Hoping he turns me down (it wasn't the highest of offers)

I'm tempted to put up a bunch of stuff for sale.

I told my son (he's 12) and said that this is the opportunity to clear out a bunch of shelf space during the year, and prepare for maybe filling the space the year after.

oh oh oh, just found, it means that I'm not bidding on any ebay item that ends past my birthday !!!!

Yes, this makes me happy. Very happy.

um, already working on exclusions.

What if I have a repair/restoration and need to buy a parts camera?

Okay, I said "no gear" so that includes lenses, finders, anything that attaches to a camera. Film is okay. SD card is okay. Batteries are okay. Lens shades? Soft releases? Motor drives? No, definitely no motor drives. No meter prisms.

But what if that "Three crowns Leica IIIg in black" shows up at a Sally Ann and I'm the only one there?

I'm basically in a no buy zone, but I'll be looking at that new Panasonic GX7 and Olympus E-M1 when they arrive. I'll buy one of them for sure, whether this year or next is just a matter of when to spend the money.

However, people keep giving me cameras. Two more in the past seven days...!

I wish I had the nerve to achieve this. I've stopped buying lenses and cameras. And thanks to you I have the complete set of finders. And I also have from RFF the Rolleinar 1 and 2. I don't think I need a Rolleinar 3....My Sirui tripod wasn't expensive, but shows me more of what a really good tripod could offer....The one more thing I want is the 90mm Macro Elmar. That's it. Then I need nothing more. At all. And although the Summicron f2 28 is stellar I definitely don't need it....nor the 50 Lux ASPH. And I am definitely forbidden to buy a Monochrom. So maybe I can go a year along the lines you mention.

I would recommend a Rolleinar 3 :D

For me, I use 1 for when I want to shoot a little closer than normal and 3 when I want to go VERY close. At least for me, 2 seemed a bit redundant.
