This faded old motivational "Goals" poster is on a wall in the entranceway of an abandoned house on Lower Huntington Road, just outside Fort Wayne.

Shot with a Hasselblad on Tmax 400, developed in PMK.

I shot it last week while taking a break from writing a paper for the graduate seminar I'm taking on Mark Twain this semester. The paper still isn't done, but it isn't due till next Tuesday!

Another photograph from the same house, at the top of the stairs. I wonder, who is the little boy in the black and white photo on the "I Love" plaque? Why was this left behind? The painting is a reproduction.

I really like the second shot. You've got a knack for taking atmospheric photographs in old/abandoned buildings. That 'painting' looks like a Tretchickov.

Thanks. I don't think the painting is a Tretchikov, though. It is not modern at all, the style is early 19th century romanticism.

This window is on the back of the house's entryway. The little stained glass picture in the window is a representation of a flower seed packet.

The house's mailbox sits across the street. It is common to see mailboxes smashed in by vandals in rural areas outside Fort Wayne. There are several others that belong to inhabited homes on this road that are smashed just as badly.

I wonder how long the mailman kept stuffing mail into an abandoned house's mailbox before he realized that no one lived there? I made this photograph yesterday afternoon.

I enjoy your photos very much Chris. They often have a bleakly nostalgic air to them (to my eye). Which leads me to wonder: Do you ever take photos of rainbows, green fields and bunny rabbits?

No bunnies, so you'll have to settle for long-eared donkeys.

I'm interested in exploring PMK with HP5+ in 2 1/4. My thought is to start off with a -10% on the normal time to keep the contrast down but I'm unsure how it responds to scanning.

Chris, those are great photos.

The "top of the stairs" must be in the attic, the construction in my house is basically identical (including the little door that opens to a creepy space where the chimney comes up).

The smashed mailbox has a truly heartbreaking quality. Inanimate objects speak volumes.

All of the photos on my website that were shot with film, no matter what film or developer I used, are scans from the negs using a Nikon scanner. I think PMK scans beautifully. The negs have a color to them but I just scan in greyscale. I experimented with scanning in color and choosing different color channels to make the grey from, but found no real quality difference.

The mailbox photo is not PMK developed, though. It is not even film! Shot with a Canon 5D Mark II
