Tom is so right about the handling. With the RG+RW and the goggle, my M6 looks so clumsy. Every time I draft the advert to sell, and revisit the photos that I have taken with it, I always end up deleting the advert.

What a Love/Hate relationship...

I don't really need a fast 35 (though I have the Nokton), as I often push mine to 1600. The Cron IV always come in my mine if it will give me the same tone + easy handling...

What say you?

My advice is: Dont sell the Summaron, even though it is a M3 mount! Instead start looking for a M2 version and use the M3 one as a trade. Somewhere there must be a M3 owner who is desperate for one and has a "regular" 35f2.8!
The Summaron 35f2.8 is, in my opinion, a better lens in many way than the 35f2. It is sharper at close up and I have always liked the way it treats bl/w film and your pictures proves that. Nice shots!!
Most of the problem I have had with M3 goggled lenses is not so much in use, though the slightly dimmer finder is an irritant, but it is when you put it away in the bag or pocket! It always tangles itself up with straps and occupies far more space than a 35 should. You can also distort the mount of the goggles if you sit on it! The combination of a jacket with deep pocket and a MGB proved that at one time! Luckily, my local Leica guy did have a M2 mount around and put the lens cell in it.
Keep shooting and posting - enjoyed the shots.

I have taken 1 roll with it, and didn't scan them. 95% of my shots are BW, colours are well taken care of by digital PnS :p

Thanks Vincenzo. Good for you. My problem is changing lens. I have to take out the grip before I can mount the lens on, that's my frus.

I don't find it dims my finder, infact I like it for the fact that it transform my 0.72 to a wider finder.
I don't find the "entanglement" a problem too as I will either mount it on and use it the whole day, or not bring it at all. (because of the Grip blocking the goggle)
We learn to adapt to the "problems", don't we? :)

Great pictures. I have both goggle version and non-goggle version. Both are great and no problem with the handling.
 
My Summaron was build in the year 1962, while the Summicron was build in the year 1959. I use the Summaron in BW films and Summaron in colour slide films. Mounting and dismounting the goggled 35 mm is not too difficult, in respect to the not goggled lenses, IMHO.

I think you mean Summaron for BW and Summicron for slides.

Mounting is not difficult. If you use the grip, you will then need to remove the grip, mount the lens, and put back the grip. That's my only frus.
 
Are these pictures taken with the 3.5 or the 2.8? I must have missed that. I shoot with M3 and would love to try the goggled Summaron. I think the 3.5 would be fast enough for me, but what about image quality?

Mine is a 2.8 (which I got it from a fellow RFF). I have no idea about 3.5, but I'm happy with the quality of 2.8.
 
For GCSK:
yes, i made a little mistake. I use the BW films with the Summaron 35/2.8 and colour slides with my Summicron 35, both in goggled version. I'm sorry.

I happen to think that the goggles make my camera look more bad-ass. Too bad the rest of me can't keep up the image.

As it happens I have just (today) sold my goggled Summaron 35/2.8 (I got £190 for it on the Famous Auction Site after getting no takers here on RFF Classifieds at £150 ;) ). It's an excellent lens, but I really can't handle the goggles on my M2 and M6 - the lower magnification from the goggles makes it just too hard to comfortably use for me. But if a non-goggled non-M3 version came up I might be seriously tempted.

Summaron 35mm f/3.5

I use it on all my M's, 3, 4P, M8. The only thing I don't like about it, is I need to keep a shade on it and never shoot into a light source, IE back lit. The images from all the cameras are really sharp across the image, I tend to shoot it at 5.6. I keep thinking to sell it, but like my old 90 Elmar, I just can't let them go. Something in the printed image, is something I can't duplicate in Photoshop.
