Going DRF: Used M240 M-P, New M262 or Used M9-P as a first and only DRF?

"Out for delivery"... how I love those words!

:)

The M-P is the only reason I haven't already ordered a new M-D typ 262 ... yet.

I had a very ambivalent relationship with the M9. It made good photos, but I found the JPEG engine in it mostly a disaster on colors and white balance. The biggest thing I disliked about it was its sluggish responsiveness and the noise of the shutter recock operation. I nearly sold it half a dozen times.

The M-P solved all of those issues beautifully, doubled to tripled the number of exposures per charge with the battery, and just feels better in the hand for me. I feel it makes much better photographs too, and the in-camera JPEG engine is often all you need. The B&W output is very very good (as good as the M Monochrom typ 246 until you set ISO 3200 or higher, from my testing) with selectable B&W filters in-camera that work well too.

I'm sure you'll enjoy learning and using it.

The unveiling was exquisite! I don't know if Leica got their packaging ideas from Apple or vice-versa.

Just waiting for the battery to charge... I have a sub-optimal SD card for it to use today, but the better (faster) ones that I will dedicate to the M-P will have been delivered to home by the end of the day. It feels great!

Hmmm. Can't find the menu option for RAW + JPEG, but the firmware is old. I'll update it and try again.

You set it in the Picture Parameters menu using the Set button, not the Menu button (IIRC). (It's been so long since I set up the M-P and put all my settings into user configurations, I've forgotten some of the details. I'm still running the camera on one firmware version behind the current, which is what's been in it since I acquired it in March of 2015.)

There it is! I didn't even realize that additional menu was there - I'll re-read that part of the manual.

Thanks!!!

Early impressions - wow! I haven't been able to spend much time with it yet due to a busy weekend followed by foul weather, but I think I made the right choice.
