Going from X-100 to M-P. Which lens to start with?

Gentlemen, from your kind suggestions, I now have 35mm FLE and Ziess 50mm Plannar to use with my M-P 240. Since I am new to both carmera and lens. I would like to ask silly question that how can i make my m-p frame line change from 35mm to 50mm when I switch from Lux FLE to the Plannar. Nows it seems that the frame line does not change to 50mm when I put my Ziess in. Thanks

Your lens profile selection is probably set to automatic. When you mount the Zeiss, you'll have set it to manual and choose the appropriate 50mm f2 profile. This will get you the frame lines for the 50mm but you may need to try them all out to see which profile best matches the Zeiss (colour shift and vignette may vary). When you mount the 35 back, switch back to automatic.

You should set the Planar 50 to a compatible lens code, although the differences are subtle with a 50mm lens. Although that has no bearing on the frame lines ... The frame line selector is a mechanical linkage so the frame lines should auto-select regardless whether the lens code is set correctly or not.

Do the frame lines change when you move the M-P frame line selector lever? I found that, at first, the Leica Protector half-case was causing the selector lever to stick. After a little bit of use, this became a non-issue. Try that out and see what's happening.

Above 35 mm the vignette and colour shift profile corrections are minimal to virtually nil.
Frame lines have nothing to do with lens settings in the menu or by coding. (except the camera may not recognize the lens if the code and frameline connection do not match)
It may be that you overrotate your lens by keeping the release button pressed whilst mounting instead of letting the lens click in.

35mm f/2.5 (or newer f/2.4) Summarit is a fantastic lens; small, lights and sharp with a beautiful rendering.

50mm f/2 Summicron (non-APO) is also great.

Why not skip 35mm though and get a 28 and 50mm set?

If you have got used to 35mm, then 35mm cron is logically the first one you would probably like to start with? Summilux is large, cron is the best balance.
Of course, then you have options of different version of crons,.. my choice would be either first or the pre-asph version, which is why I'm selling my chrome asph version now
