I've always used Leica rangefinders and now I'm thinking I may want to try a Nikon. The S2 seems to be the nicest one that I'd like to afford... but I can't get a handle on the going rates for non-collectable user cameras. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

black mint $8000 +
chrome
mint $800-1000
excellent $500,
worn $300
all would have a 5cm lens either f 1.4 or f 2. there are plenty out there, most will have to have the shutter speeds adjusted, even the mint ones. rangefinders normally work on most of the cameras unless they have been dropped.

I recently saw one go for $750 in EX+, with 50/1.4 EX+ lens including an overhaul...... and the thing was sweet!

Enjoy Life.
I sold a fairly mint one a month or so ago for $895. For under a grand you can always find a nice piece.
Great camera for a 50mm BTW, 1:1 finder.

I got a nice one from Aaron Benner here: $500.
Functionally perfect, the odd minor cosmetic mark, no dings, all shutter speeds and operation perfect.

Don't agree with the poster who said they likely will need shutter speeds adjusted. Old Nikons are pretty good at maintaining correct shutter speeds even after sitting many years.

There's one on shopgoodwill.com

There is a Nikon RF on sale at shopgoodwill.com. But the price is climbing fast. Since there is no way to do a snipe on the listing apart from being on the page during the last minute, chance of getting outbid by 3-seconds-b4-closing snipers are less there. In a way it's more realistic bidding. Good luck.

Be aware that the rugged shutters of S-2s can be very loud by rangefinder standards. Very much a "ker-chunk" sound that's as loud as an SLR.

You're not going to touch that one at Goodwill for under a thousand. It's a Nikon M...

Agree with this. US$500 should get you a nice fully functional user chrome dial S2 with 5cm lens (either f1.4 or f2).
But of course prices vary a lot depending on condition.

I sold mine in HK at HK$5800, around US$750, with a 50/1.4 black, a univerial viewfinder, and a 135/3.5 black. I would consider very cheap.

I've had no luck selling mine yet. I might just put some film in it and start carrying it around again. It's too pretty to keep locked away in a box.

One better than yours just sold for less. You might be able to sell yours with a different price.
