Canon LTM Going Rate for BLACK Canonet G-III

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
I sold one in ex- condition, engraved with the original owners SSN, and it went for almost $200. Mine went toward the Nikon SP.

Anyone want to make me an offer before I put it on ebay? I have decided that with prices like this, I really can't justify keeping it..... Will come with flash, UV filter/protector, cases and manuals..... pm if interested... have pics.

Yikes! An RFF member apparently got a good deal from me recently. Wasn't that nice but was the earlier (and according to Mr Gandy rarer) pre-GIII...

Oh, well.

within the last 3-4 months, i have noticed the blacks selling for well above $200, but these prices are crazy.

just in case the market rights itself, and they go back to being in the $250 range for a very nice condition model, i think you have no excuse not to sell.

the trick also seems to be offering the camera in the best condition possible (obviously), with as many add ons as possible - things like filter, Canolite flash, manual, every ready case, etc. CLA'd doesn't hurt of course.

if you're going to put it up on eBay (or sell it anywhere for that matter) make sure you take some really high resolution, high quality, sharp images of the camera in the most immaculately clean condition that you can achieve.

i don't think you will be disappointed.

SELL SELL SELL !!!

I was interested in a black QL17 and was following the one mentionned in this thread ... But no way I'm going to pay $350+ ... I bought a regular QL17 instead which should take the same kind of picture :)

you know, the black finish is pretty sexy but really, the brown lizard skind covered chrome one on www.cameraleather.com is waaay better in my opinion, and a lot less to put together yourself.

my grandpa wouls say those people bidding on the black QL17GIII's have 'more money than brains'; though I think he'd say that about all of my camera gear too :)

Hoping NOT to bring up the dreaded 1.35v battery thread again but he states the meter is voltage compensated...every one I have had was not and was consistently out by a stop...
I have got to find me some black GIII cameras...I have never seen one in person...

These prices do seem to be crazy at the moment. About 2 months ago, I bought my black GIII from a dealer in London. It is in near mint condition with full CLA and seals, case, filter and caps and it was about $185 including shipping and 12 months warranty! I thought this was not cheap even though the Canonets do seem to cost more over this side of the Atlantic. As to the older version, I recently got a fully serviced one with new seals etc from Germany for about $50 inc shipping. It has character (Alright, there is a fair amout of brass showing ;) ) and it will be a user. It may even end up with a nice new skin from Morgan Sparks. Perhaps bright red. On the other hand, at these prices, anyone interested :D

I had a look at the one that just went on eBay from lensman. I noted that he was also selling a Pentax LX. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7510284580&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
He describes this as a late model, but the photos clearly show an early model (the shutter lock is the giveaway) What's more it displays all the classic LX problems and will need a full CLA. I don't know what his reserve was but it is not worth more than the bids. He seems to have reasonable feedback but it always concerns me a little when people hold "private" auctions and have a huge long list of "conditions".
